"Support from customer service is lacking."
The customer service team isn't very helpful and doesn't seem to want to assist. I get bombarded with daily emails that just clutter my inbox! I just joined and haven't even made a claim yet! If this is the stress level now, I can't even picture how it would be if I had to file a claim! Seriously, if you need help, don't bother asking for Bonnie!

"Veterinary Expenses"
The prices at local vets have really shot up, and I’m not sure how I’d manage if something happened to my furry friends. A buddy of mine suggested Hartville, and I was pleasantly surprised by how affordable the monthly insurance was. The sign-up process was super quick and smooth. After I enrolled, I received a ton of helpful info about Hartville and the claims process. I hope I never have to file a claim, but I feel pretty sure that if I do, it’ll be just as straightforward as getting started. Thanks a bunch! ~Terri

"Awesome coverage and speedy reimbursements"
Whether it's routine visits or a costly emergency surgery, Hartville has taken a load off our shoulders. My interactions with their reps, both through email and phone, have been fantastic. Filing my own claims is a breeze, and getting that reimbursement really helps us relax when we need to take our pet to the vet.

"Completely Unacceptable Experience"
This has been a totally unacceptable experience. I reached out to change my dog's insurance to full coverage since I had a vet appointment that week. The representative assured me that if I switched my policy, everything would kick in the day after, which was supposed to be 10/26/2022. I specifically asked him multiple times to ensure that my old policy wouldn’t cancel until the new one was fully active. I made it clear that I wouldn’t have made the switch if my dog wasn’t going to be covered, and he guaranteed me that everything would be fine and the new policy would start on 10/26.

Then I got an email saying that only part of my policy was effective on 10/26, and the full coverage wouldn’t kick in until 11/9. To make matters worse, I discovered that my previous policy had been canceled, leaving my dog's insurance in jeopardy.

At the vet, I learned my dog has cancer. Thanks to this mix-up caused by the rep who seemed more interested in making a sale, my dog wasn’t covered for her appointment, and now her cancer is labeled a pre-existing condition, meaning she has no insurance at all.

Maybe you should consider investing some of the profits from pet owners into better training for your insurance representatives.

"I wish I could rate them zero stars"
I wish I could rate them zero stars. After being with them for more than a decade, my pet is now getting old. He has thyroid problems, and I can't get any claims approved anymore, as they say it's now a preexisting condition from one renewal to the next. Since it can't be cured, they refuse to pay. This is just plain unethical and downright shameful. Because of his age, I'm stuck with this policy. I use Trupanion for my other cats, and they are honest and a fantastic company. Seriously, avoid Hartville; they are just awful.

"Hartville is an amazing company. Highly recommend them!"
I’ve always had a positive experience with Hartville. For nearly five years, I’ve relied on them to insure my dogs, and despite the many health challenges my older pup has faced, they’ve always been prompt, helpful, and kind. Their rates are pretty fair too, especially for senior dogs. They recently updated their online platform, and it’s really impressive.

"All's well up to now..."
Everything's been smooth sailing so far. The sign-up process was a breeze, and the staff were super friendly, making sure to clarify the plan and respond to all my inquiries. I really hope I won't have to use it, but it gives me comfort knowing my furry friend is protected.

"My buddy's vet visits have been a lot..."
My buddy has had to visit the vet a bunch of times since May due to some serious diarrhea issues. He ended up needing a sonogram and an endoscope. The diagnosis was IBD. Now, he's on some meds that I really hope will do the trick. I racked up bills from three different vets, which came to over $2500. Luckily, after my deductible, they covered 80%. I reached out to confirm that I could submit bills from all three vets who were part of his treatment. The customer service was super helpful.
